THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE IS
THE HAND THAT RULES THE WORLD.
‘Mother’s first guide to the streamlets,
From them souls unresting grow…
Grown on for the good or evil,
Sunshine streamed or evil hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world’.
In this poem William Ross Wallace so perfectly articulates what motherhood means? How a woman is transformed when she becomes a mother. A mother plays a vital role in a child’s existence and entity.
‘Keep the young heart open,
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.’
What a great angel God has placed within us, Our Mother! He always gives us an assertion that He is always with us forever, to overcome every complex circumstances.
Mother is our first teacher. She instructs us about our conduct in society, how to inculcate good manners in us. She crafts our persona just like a potter. As the potter moulds mud and a beautiful pot is created, similarly she gives a perfect shape to our life.
Mother an ocean of love, teaches us to preserve chastity of our souls. A mother’s love is like a cool zephyr, which gives solace to our perturbed minds. Our mother involves in the daily household chores and does a lot of activities for us, whole day. She spends sleepless nights worried about our well-being. But do we anytime try to understand her? When we are ready for going to bed she is still too busy preparing for tomorrow. Ironing our dresses, hanky, reminding us about our homework and tomorrow’s schedule. But do we anytime stay awake with her, or for her? When we fall ill she sits next our bed whole night, when our homework is pending she stays awake with us for an order of coffee mug! But if she falls ill do we really care for her? I think we should. We never come to know the importance of things unless they get separated from us. We should always think about the children who are deprived of their mother’s love .As compared to their condition we are lucky to have our mother caress us. So try to understand the importance of your mother. No matter how old we grow, with honour as well with experience we will always remain the little ones of our loving mother. If it happens so, in future when I will reach to an honorable position I will surely give all the credit to my mom. And proudly say ‘The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world’. Here are few lines to express my gratitude for my mother:
“You are my blanket, my soft cozy shawl,
Without you I can’t even crawl,
You replace my sadness
By your gladness,
My tears by your smiles,
Having lighted the candle of my life,
You have started oiling day and night.
Your concern for me is such…
That I want to say: Mom, Thank you very much!!”
